Favuzzi's Tomato Basil Sauce is velvety crushed tomatoes seasoned with fresh basil, and it's the most popular sauce in the Favuzzi line. It's made by the De Laurentiis family in the mountains of Abruzzo, Italy, with Italian tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, and a classic base of onion, carrot, and celery. Small batches cook over an open flame, a traditional technique that lets the water evaporate slowly and gives the sauce a rich, homemade texture. Warm it up, toss it with pasta, and dinner is ready.
Why Do Home Cooks Love This Sauce?
- A velvety, homemade style texture from small batch cooking over an open flame
- Fresh basil and a traditional base of onion, carrot, and celery for classic Italian flavor
- Made with Italian tomatoes and extra virgin olive oil
- Contains no preservatives
- Ready to spoon over pasta, meatballs, or arancini on a busy weeknight
How Do I Use This Sauce?
- Toss it with spaghetti, ravioli, gnocchi, or cannelloni.
- Spoon it over meatballs or arancini.
- Use about 1 1/2 cups (375 ml) of sauce for 1 lb (500 g) of pasta. Italian pasta dishes are not served swimming in sauce.
- Stir a ladleful of your pasta cooking water into the sauce before adding the pasta. The salted, starchy water thickens the sauce and helps it cling.
