Building real umami flavor usually means reaching for a few different bottles, soy sauce, garlic paste, maybe a splash of vinegar. This balsamic combines fermented black garlic and rich tamari into one pour, so that restaurant-style depth comes from a single bottle.

I Should Have Bought A Larger Bottle

I purchased the Black Garlic Tamari at the Home Show in Scottsdale and I really regret not buying a larger bottle because I use it in almost everything, or as a dipping sauce with bread. It's just so good and kicks my Asian recipes up several notches.

Good to the Last Drop

Stumbled over this stuff at a little shop in Big Fork, MT, and have been a fan ever since. So full of flavor, a little goes a long way. Thin slice some red onion, then marinate them for a bit in some of this. On a hamburger with a sharp cheese … heavenly!

Swap this for any soy sauce item

This has been the surprise of the last order - and my new favorite. I use this to make all different asian inspired salads, and have been using this as a swap for soy sauce because of the richness of flavor. A dash over wontons or potstickers make a standard freezer item a delicious delight. I like it with the shallot oil and it's great on it's own too. Salty and savory - a must have in the pantry. Just reordered in a larger size.

Fantastic in salads

As a salad dressing paired with any of their oils is amazing. I look forward to salads for dinner lately. Black truffle infused olive oil with this vinegar on a pile of various lettuce and fresh vegetables, I'm just saying.

A taste changer!

Discovered this balsamic blend a year and a half ago. I’m a veggie forward cook, and it’s absolutely the best finishing touch on sautéed zucchini, beet greens, or succotash. I’ll also drizzle some over my grilled salmon, my salad greens…you get the picture. A little goes a long way!

One of my favorites

I am a huge fan of the tamari balsamic. It makes an excellent marinade for chicken thighs on the barbecue. I also use it in place of soy sauce for many dishes. It is a staple in my kitchen now.

Black Garlic Tamari

If you use soy sauce for your Asian dishes I would highly recommend switching to Black Garlic Tamari - it is one of my most used Olivelle products! I make sure I always have a large bottle on hand and everyone I share it with ends up buying their own.

Delicious and versatile

My 89 year old mother bought this at Cavallo Winery in Homosassa. She asked me to get more from them for her, but they weren't expecting to be replenished for three weeks. So I found Olivelle's website and ordered it directly. I received it in three days very securely packaged. I also like this as I have sampled it at her house.

Your Top Questions, Answered

The difference is in the quality, the ingredients, and the aging process.

Most grocery store balsamic vinegars are made with low-quality ingredients and often use artificial flavorings and additives to achieve a sweet taste. These vinegars are usually watered down, and many have a much quicker, cheaper production process meaning they don’t have the complex flavors or depth of a true balsamic.

At Olivelle, we take our balsamic seriously. Our balsamic vinegars are made from fresh, crushed grapes and aged in wooden barrels for months or years, creating a deep, rich flavor that comes from natural fermentation. We don’t add any artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. Just pure, high-quality balsamic.

The result? Rich, sweet, tangy, and complex balsamic with depth that you won’t find in your average store-bought bottle. Once you taste the difference, you won’t want to go back!

Pro tip: Taste test our balsamic next to a store brand and see for yourself. It’s like comparing a homemade pie to a store-bought one. You’ll always notice the difference!

No, our balsamic vinegars are not certified organic, but they are still incredibly high quality!

Our balsamic vinegars come straight from the heart of Modena, Italy. This region is famous for making real, traditional balsamic using time-honored methods passed down through generations. The small, family-run producers we partner with use natural and sustainable practices, even if they don’t carry the organic label. That’s because getting certified organic can be very expensive and complicated, especially for small farms.

At Olivelle, we care more about what’s inside the bottle than a label on the outside. Every balsamic is carefully aged, full of bold, rich flavor, and crafted with love and tradition. You’ll taste the difference in every drop!

We understand how ingredient labeling can be confusing, especially with the unique process behind true barrel-aged balsamic vinegar.

Here’s what you need to know: Authentic balsamic is made using just two ingredients; cooked grape must and wine vinegar. The grape must (fresh-pressed grape juice) is slowly cooked down until it's thick and sweet. Wine vinegar is then added to kick off natural fermentation and balance the flavor with just the right touch of acidity.

So while it’s called “balsamic,” seeing wine vinegar on the label is not only normal, it’s essential for creating that rich, complex flavor balsamic fans crave!

Yes, all of our vinegars are naturally gluten-free and vegan. We don’t use any animal products or gluten in our vinegars, so you can enjoy them with peace of mind. Whether you’re vegan, gluten-sensitive, or just looking to eat clean, you’re good to go!

Bonus: They're also non-GMO and free of artificial additives.

Store balsamic vinegar in a cool, dark place, away from heat and sunlight. The pantry or a kitchen cupboard works great! Keep the cap tightly sealed to preserve the flavors.

All of our Balsamic Vinegars and Wine Vinegars are poured fresh for every order so each bottle is packed with fresh flavor! These vinegars are best enjoyed within 12–18 months of purchase. We suggest storing in a cool, dark place with the cap tightly sealed.
